Diving Abades

Enter from the beach and descend across the shallow sand toward the first volcanic reef. Schools of damselfish, wrasse and trumpetfish move around the rocks, while octopus, cuttlefish, nudibranchs and cleaner shrimp reward divers who take time to look into the smaller openings.

Continue across the bay toward the second reef, where the landscape opens into seagrass, sand and larger rocky formations. Turtles are seen regularly at Abades, often moving between the reef and seagrass, while seahorses can sometimes be found by patient divers who know where to look. Rays, barracuda, garden eels and seasonal angel sharks may also appear along the route.

With several routes and depths between 5 and 20 meters, Abades works well for both relaxed dives and training. The easy entry and shallow starting area also make it a natural location for building confidence during our PADI Open Water Diver course.
