Diving Montaña Amarilla

From the boat or shore, we descend toward the reef edge at around 12 meters, where volcanic rock meets the open sand. This gives us two landscapes to explore, with garden eels across the bottom and octopus, moray eels, cuttlefish and smaller marine life around the reef. Different ray species may also pass through the sandy areas.

Following the rock formations brings us to a hidden statue and the Eye of the Needle, a large opening through the reef where good buoyancy makes the passage much more enjoyable. Yellow sponge adds color throughout the site, while the longer route can continue toward an arch and a beautiful yellow gorgonian.

Montaña Amarilla can offer a relaxed upper route or a longer dive for more experienced divers. The Eye of the Needle shows why precise trim and buoyancy matter on dives like this, skills we develop further during our XTend on TB Trim and Buoyancy program.
