El Meridian wreck

Name: El Meridian | KFK 469.

Type: German KFK kriegsfischkutter.

Length: 24.5 meter.

Width: 6.4 meter.

Sinking date: 23 October 2005.

Purpose: During here period in Tenerife she was used for whale and dolphin watching.

Built at: Burmester Swinemunde Ost, Germany under Nr. 282 in 1944.

Reason sinking: Scuttled as artificial reef.

Location: Near Palm Mar, Tenerife.

Depth: 30 meter.

 

  • During World War II she was active as KFK 469 at the 31. minensuchflottille, gruppe D.
  • Other source mention, vorpostensicherungsboote 2. sicherungs flottille.
  • The El Meridian was in 1973 brought to Tenerife and modified for touristic purposes.
