Diving El Meridian

From the boat, we descend through open Atlantic blue until El Meridian appears on the sandy seabed at around 30 meters. Its compact 24.5-meter structure creates a clear route around the bow, deck and remaining sections of the vessel, with open water surrounding the wreck.

El Meridian is much more than a former Tenerife excursion boat. After weeks of detailed historical research, Aquarius identified the vessel as KFK 469, a German Kriegsfischkutter built in 1944 and used during World War II. It later arrived in Tenerife, where it was converted for whale and dolphin watching before being scuttled near Palm Mar in October 2005 to create an artificial reef.

Moray eels, octopus, trumpetfish and schools of fish may gather around the structure, while rays and larger passing fish can appear in the surrounding blue. The depth and possible current make good planning important, so Aquarius keeps the group small and matches the dive to experience and conditions.
