To start PADI Discover Tec Diving with Aquarius, please make sure you meet the following:

Minimum age at Aquarius: 18 years

PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent

Minimum 10 logged dives

Current dive insurance and medically fit to dive

For the Discover Tec + PADI Tec 40 package, the full PADI Tec 40 prerequisites also apply.

The use of SCUBAPRO technical dive equipment is included in the program price.

Our approach

Discover Tec is the right place to find out whether technical diving really suits you. It is not about going deep, collecting another card or rushing into more equipment. It is about feeling the configuration, understanding the mindset and seeing how controlled, disciplined diving feels in the water.

At Aquarius, we keep this session calm, structured and honest. You get time to understand the setup, adjust the equipment and experience the difference between normal recreational diving and a more procedure-based technical approach. Technical diving starts before the dive itself, with preparation, equipment awareness and the ability to think through “what if” situations before they happen.

Configuration Comes First – We explain the setup before the dive, so the equipment feels logical instead of just heavier.

Procedures Stay Controlled – You may practise simple TecRec procedures such as regulator switching, shutdown awareness and team communication at the right pace.

Honest Advice Before Tec 40 – After the session, you get clear feedback on whether continuing into Tec 40 makes sense for your current level.

FAQ’s PADI Discover Tec Diving

What is PADI Discover Tec Diving?

PADI Discover Tec Diving is a confined-water introduction to technical diving. You try a technical diving setup, learn basic TecRec concepts and experience how a more procedure-based style of diving feels.

Who can join PADI Discover Tec Diving?

At Aquarius, you must be at least 18 years old, certified as a PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent, and have at least 10 logged dives. You also need current dive insurance and must be medically fit to dive.

How does the PADI Discover Tec Diving program work?

The program starts with a technical equipment briefing, setup explanation and fit adjustment. Your Tec Instructor explains the configuration, basic team concepts and simple procedures before you enter confined water.

During the dive, you get used to the equipment, buoyancy, trim and awareness required for a technical setup. Your instructor may introduce basic skills such as regulator switching or shutdown awareness, depending on your comfort and control.

What will I achieve after PADI Discover Tec Diving?

You will understand whether technical diving feels like the right direction for you. The goal is not certification, but honest experience with the equipment, procedures and mindset behind TecRec diving.

You should leave with a clearer idea of what technical diving demands, what areas need improvement and whether continuing into PADI Tec 40 makes sense for your current level.

Can Discover Tec count toward PADI Tec 40?

In some cases, Discover Tec may credit toward later TecRec training. This depends on your instructor, your performance and whether the training structure matches the required standards.
