At Aquarius Dive Center, diving in Tenerife is not about rushing people in and out of the water. It is about safe, well-guided dives with real attention before, during and after the dive.

We organize guided boat dives and shore dives for certified divers, choosing the dive sites based on the day’s conditions, your certification level and your experience.

Why Diving in Tenerife Is Special

Tenerife’s underwater world is shaped by volcanic rock, not coral reef. That gives the island a completely different feeling underwater: lava formations, rocky reefs, walls, arches, swim-throughs and blue Atlantic scenery.

Visibility is often good, commonly ranging between 10 and 30 meters depending on conditions. Water temperature is usually around 19°C in winter and can reach about 25°C in summer.

Marine life can include different species of rays, moray eels, trumpetfish, octopus, cuttlefish, nudibranchs and large schools of Atlantic fish.

Turtles are occasionally seen, and angel sharks may appear in season, but this is the ocean, not a zoo. We never promise wildlife sightings.

We also offer night dives, where Tenerife’s volcanic reefs feel completely different under torchlight. It is a special Atlantic experience for certified divers.

Boat Diving and Shore Diving

Our main diving offer is guided boat diving, giving access to some of the best dive sites in South Tenerife, including reefs, walls and deeper sites for more experienced divers.

Shore diving is also part of what we offer and can be a great choice depending on the weather, sea conditions and diver level.

From our dive center in South Tenerife, we have access to more than 30 local dive sites, so we choose the best location for the day instead of forcing a fixed plan. That is how diving should be done.

Responsible Diving

We dive as guests in the animals’ home.

That means no touching marine life, no feeding, no chasing, and no damaging the bottom. We guide divers with good buoyancy habits and responsible behavior underwater.

Aquarius is also involved in PADI Adopt the Blue and we collect trash during dives when it is safe and practical to do so. For us, caring about the ocean is not a slogan. It is part of how we dive.

FAQ: Diving in Tenerife

Do I need a diving license to dive in Tenerife?

Yes, certified fun dives are for divers with a valid diving certification.

Not certified yet? You can start with a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or take the PADI Open Water Diver course with Aquarius Dive Center in Tenerife.

What are the safety rules for diving in Tenerife?

Certified divers must dive within their certification level and experience, monitor their time and depth, and follow the dive plan and briefing.

For diving in Tenerife, you should carry a DSMB, cutting tool and whistle.

Dive insurance is also required. If you do not have valid dive insurance, we can arrange it at the dive center in just a few minutes.
