What is a PADI Open Water Referral?

A PADI Open Water Referral lets you start your Open Water Diver course with one PADI center and complete the final open water dives with another. With Aquarius, you finish your four certification dives in Tenerife after completing your theory and confined water training elsewhere.

Who can join the PADI Open Water Referral program?

This program is for non-certified divers who have already completed the knowledge development and confined water part of the PADI Open Water Diver course. The minimum age is 10 years. Divers aged 10 to 14 earn a Junior Open Water Diver certification, with age-related depth and supervision limits.

How does the PADI Open Water Referral work with Aquarius?

The program normally takes 2 days and includes four open water dives. We check your referral paperwork, review your eLearning, refresh key skills where needed and guide you through the final course dives with a PADI Instructor.

Are the PADI Open Water Referral dives from boat or shore?

The dives may be from shore, boat, or a combination, depending on weather, sea conditions, student comfort, logistics and the safest training result. We choose the setup that gives you the best chance to complete your certification properly and enjoy the dives.

What can I do after completing my PADI Open Water Referral?

After certification, you can dive with a certified buddy to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet, within the limits of your training and experience.

Good next steps are PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, PADI Enriched Air Diver Nitrox and buoyancy training, so you can build confidence, enjoy more dive options and improve your control underwater.
