The PADI Divemaster course is your first professional step in diving. With Aquarius, you go beyond the certification checklist and start building the confidence, control and awareness needed to lead certified divers, assist instructors and behave like a dive professional.

You train in south Tenerife with year-round diving, blue Atlantic water, boat and shore experience, real dive logistics and direct coaching from a PADI 5-Star IDC team. The course is serious, but the experience still has the fun, team energy and Tenerife diving lifestyle that make the journey worth it.

Divemaster training is where equipment habits start to matter more. Aquarius combines PADI 5-Star IDC coaching with Scubapro-quality equipment and is featured on SCUBAPRO’s official Tenerife Dive Local page.

Divemaster requirements

To enroll in the PADI Divemaster course, please make sure you meet the following:

Minimum age required: 18 years.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver, or equivalent.

Current First Aid and CPR training within the last 24 months.

Medical clearance signed by a doctor within the last 12 months.

Minimum 40 logged dives to start the course and 60 logged dives for certification.

FAQ’s PADI Divemaster

What is the PADI Divemaster course?

The PADI Divemaster course is the first professional level in the PADI system. You develop leadership, dive knowledge, water skills and the ability to assist instructors and support certified divers.

With Aquarius, this is not just a certification checklist. You train with our PADI 5-Star IDC team in a real Tenerife dive-center environment, with small-group mentoring, Scubapro-quality equipment, strong buoyancy and control expectations, and practical coaching that helps you become more confident above and below the surface.

Who can join the PADI Divemaster course?

You need to be at least 18 years old, certified as PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver, or hold equivalent certifications. You also need current First Aid and CPR training, medical clearance signed by a doctor and the required logged dives.

You need at least 40 logged dives to start the course and 60 logged dives to become certified as a PADI Divemaster.

How does the PADI Divemaster course work with Aquarius?

The course normally runs over 4 weeks. You complete the PADI Divemaster eLearning, then train with Aquarius in Tenerife through water-skill development, workshops, briefings, practical sessions, assisting experience and final assessments.

The goal is to help you become confident leading, assisting and thinking like a dive professional, while still enjoying the energy of diving in Tenerife.

What is not included in the PADI Divemaster course?

The PADI application fee, dive insurance, travel, accommodation and personal living costs are not included. Optional accommodation may be available separately, just two minutes’ walk from our dive center. You also need your own personal dive accessories, including mask, snorkel, dive computer, SMB, spool, whistle and line cutter or compact knife.

General Scubapro dive equipment such as BCD and regulator use is included during training. Aquarius is also an authorized Scubapro dealer, so we can advise you on suitable personal equipment and offer student conditions through our dive center.

What can I do after becoming a PADI Divemaster?

After certification, you become a PADI Professional and can start building real experience in the dive industry. Depending on local regulations and dive-center requirements, Divemasters can guide certified divers, assist instructors and support professional dive operations.

Strong next steps are the PADI IDC, additional specialties, technical diving foundations, or more real-world experience through guided diving and dive-center work.
