PADI Tec 50 requirements

To start the PADI Tec 50 course at Aquarius, please make sure you meet the following:

Minimum age: 18 years.

PADI Tec 45 Diver or qualifying technical certification.

PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent.

Proof of CPR/First Aid training within the previous two years.

Minimum 100 logged dives.

At least 20 enriched air dives deeper than 18 meters/60 feet.

At least 15 dives deeper than 30 meters/100 feet.

Diver Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

Current dive insurance.

Tec 50 eLearning completed before your first class.

Tec sidemount option only by prior approval: Tec Sidemount certification, at least 12 logged technical sidemount configuration dives, and final instructor approval required.

Boat-based TecRec logistics from Las Galletas keep the focus on preparation, execution and debriefing, not long walks with heavy twinsets and stage cylinders. DAN explains why proper gas-planning techniques for decompression cylinders are essential when technical dives involve multiple gases and more complex equipment.

FAQ’s PADI Tec 50

What is the PADI Tec 50 course?

PADI Tec 50 is the final core level in the PADI Tec Deep Diver path. It trains qualified Tec 45 divers to plan and conduct technical dives to a maximum depth of 50 meters/165 feet with multiple decompression stops and two decompression gases.

Who can join the PADI Tec 50 course?

You need to be at least 18 years old, certified as PADI Tec 45 Diver or equivalent, and certified as PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent. You also need the required logged dives, enriched air and deep-diving experience, current dive insurance, proof of CPR/First Aid training and a physician-signed medical statement from the last 12 months.

How does the PADI Tec 50 course work?

The course combines Tec 50 eLearning, classroom work, practical applications, equipment preparation, mission planning and four training dives over 4 days.

Training is normally completed in twinset configuration with two stage/decompression cylinders.

Tec sidemount may be possible only for divers who are already Tec Sidemount certified, have at least 12 logged technical sidemount configuration dives outside course training, and receive final instructor approval after their setup and readiness are reviewed.

What is included in the standard Tec 50 course?

The standard Tec 50 course includes four training dives, practical applications, Tec 50 eLearning, use of twinset or sidemount cylinders with air, two complete stage/decompression cylinders with required decompression gas up to 100%, wing with backplate and harness, longhose regulator configuration and PADI Tec 50 certification.

Decompression gases are included for the minimum course requirements only.

Do I need my own technical diving equipment?

The course includes the main technical diving configuration needed for training, but not all personal dive equipment.

If you need to rent standard dive equipment, Aquarius offers a 50% discount on standard rental equipment during the course, subject to availability.

What will I achieve after PADI Tec 50?

After successful certification, you are qualified to make technical dives to a maximum depth of 50 meters/165 feet using air, enriched air and oxygen.

You can make multistop decompression dives and use two decompression gases, including EANx and up to 100% oxygen, to accelerate or make decompression more conservative.
