FAQ’s Diving – Tenerife
Yes, pick-up may be available in selected areas, depending on the activity, schedule and location.
Please contact us before booking if you need pick-up support. We will let you know what is possible for your dive, course or snorkeling activity.
For guided diving, you need to bring your dive certification card and proof of valid dive insurance. Dive insurance is required in the Canary Islands.
Before diving, we complete the required paperwork, including the statement of risk and liability, standard safe diving practices and medical declaration. If you have a medical condition or history that could affect diving safety, you must provide a medical certificate signed by a qualified healthcare professional confirming that you are fit to dive.
Divers using their own equipment must also have the required safety equipment, including DSMB, whistle and cutting tool.
Activity check-in times depend on your booking and the program you are joining. Boat diving usually requires arrival around 8:30, while courses and other activities may have different check-in times. Please always check your booking confirmation carefully.
For next-day activity planning, equipment questions and air fills, please contact us in advance or visit the dive center before 17:30, as this is normally our closing time.
If you are unsure what time to arrive, contact us before coming to the dive center so we can confirm the correct time for your activity.
Yes. If you are not a certified diver yet, you can start with Discover Scuba Diving instead of joining certified guided dives.
This beginner program is designed for people with no previous diving experience. You dive under direct instructor supervision, use full scuba equipment and get your first real taste of the underwater world in Tenerife.
If you enjoy it and want to continue, the next step is the PADI Open Water Diver course.
Yes. Dive insurance can be arranged directly at our dive center through Scuba Medic. The process is quick if you have your details ready.
To arrange dive insurance, we need your full name, date of birth, ID number and email address.
Current insurance options and prices are available through our web page or directly at the dive center.
If you dive with your own equipment, please bring your own DSMB, spool, whistle and cutting tool. These items are part of the required safety equipment for diving in the Canary Islands.
If you rent a complete guided-dive set from Aquarius, DSMB, spool, whistle and cutting tool are included in the rental setup. If you only need specific items, DSMB and spool rental may be available, and whistle or cutting tool can be purchased in our shop.
For most PADI courses, required safety accessories are included. Ask us if you are not sure what applies to your activity.
For beginner, advanced and PADI Specialty courses, the use of Scubapro dive equipment is normally included in the course price unless stated otherwise in the package details.
This usually covers the main dive equipment needed for training. Personal items, dive insurance, eLearning, Nitrox fills or special equipment are only included when clearly mentioned in the specific course package.
Professional-level training and technical diving courses may have different equipment requirements, which are explained on those course pages.
Yes. At Aquarius, we follow PADI standards and local requirements.
Bubblemaker is available from 8 years old. Discover Scuba Diving and most entry-level scuba courses start from 10 years old. Age-related depth limits and supervision requirements apply for children and junior divers.
You can book online through the Price List or Web Shop on our website. The process is simple and secure.
1. Choose the dive package, activity or PADI course you want.
2. Select your date, time or available options.
3. Complete the required secure online payment to confirm your booking. For activities booked with a €25 deposit per person, the remaining balance can be paid at the dive center on the day of the activity, unless you prefer to pay the full amount online.

You are welcome to dive with your own equipment if it is suitable, and complete for the type of dive you are joining.
Prefer to travel light? Aquarius offers a wide range of SCUBAPRO rental equipment, including recreational, sidemount and technical diving gear. Please contact us in advance if you need specific equipment sizes or configurations.
Our standard guided dive packages normally include two dives. Depending on the schedule, conditions and availability, additional dives or night dives may also be possible.

Yes, absolutely. Solo travelers are very welcome at Aquarius.
You will join guided dives with our team and other certified divers where suitable. We keep the atmosphere friendly, professional and relaxed, so you can enjoy diving in Tenerife even if you arrive on your own.
Bring swimwear, towel, dry clothes, sun protection, water and something small to eat between dives.
For guided dives, bring your certification card and proof of dive insurance. For courses, check your course confirmation for any specific requirements.
We offer both boat dives and shore dives in Tenerife, with boat diving as our main focus. Our boat leaves from the Las Galletas harbour area, only a few minutes from the dive center, which makes the logistics easy and efficient.
The final dive plan depends on the dive site, sea conditions, diver experience, training goals and the safest, best option for the day.
Aquarius is based in south Tenerife, with access to volcanic underwater landscapes, Atlantic blue water and a variety of dive sites suitable for different experience levels.
Water temperature in Tenerife is usually around 19°C in winter and can reach around 25°C in summer.
Air temperature in south Tenerife is pleasant year-round, often around 20°C in winter and warmer in summer. Conditions can vary between the north and south of the island, with the south generally being warmer and more sheltered.
In summer, many divers are comfortable in a 3 mm to 5 mm wetsuit. If you get cold easily, a 5 mm suit may still be better.
In winter, a full 5 mm to 7 mm wetsuit is recommended for most divers. For technical diving, longer dives or cold-sensitive divers, a dry suit can be the better choice.
Visibility in Tenerife is often good and can range from around 10 to 30 meters or more, depending on sea conditions, weather, swell and dive site.
Many dives in south Tenerife offer clear Atlantic water, volcanic rock formations and open underwater landscapes, but visibility can never be guaranteed.
Tenerife offers diving all year round. South Tenerife is especially attractive because conditions are often calmer, warmer and more sheltered than in other parts of the island. This usually gives us good flexibility when planning dives and training.
If wind, swell or current affects one dive site, we can often move to another suitable and more sheltered location nearby. The final dive plan always depends on safety, sea conditions, diver experience and the activity or training requirements.
If conditions are unsuitable everywhere and we cannot dive safely, we will try to reschedule the activity or remaining training. For courses, any training already completed remains completed, so you can continue at another time if necessary. If rescheduling is not possible and weather or sea conditions prevent us from completing the remaining activity, we refund the part that could not be completed.
Safety always comes first, and we never compromise simply to complete a scheduled dive.
As a general guideline, wait at least 12 hours after a single no-decompression dive and at least 18 hours after multiple dives or multiple days of diving.
After dives involving decompression stops, technical diving, heliox or trimix, you should wait longer. Many divers choose 24 hours as a more conservative minimum.
The same caution applies before visiting high-altitude areas such as Mount Teide or driving to altitude after diving. Going to altitude too soon after diving can increase decompression sickness risk.
Yes. Tenerife is part of Spain and the local currency is the euro. Aquarius accepts major credit and debit cards, and cash payments are also possible at the dive center.
Payment methods may include card, cash, bank transfer, PayPal or online payment, depending on the booking type.
A €25 deposit per person is required to confirm bookings for guided dives, Discover Scuba Diving programs, snorkeling and selected activities. The remaining balance is due at the time of the activity unless paid online in advance.
If you cancel more than 48 hours before the activity start time, a refund may be available according to the booking conditions, minus any payment processing fee. If you cancel within 48 hours, the deposit is normally non-refundable.
If you booked and paid the full amount in advance, the same 48-hour cancellation policy applies. PADI eLearning codes and issued digital materials are non-refundable.
Tenerife follows the Canary Islands time zone. It is the same local time as London and one hour behind mainland Spain, Amsterdam and most of Central Europe.
In winter, Tenerife uses Western European Time. In summer, Tenerife uses Western European Summer Time.
Examples:
When it is 12:00 in Tenerife, it is 12:00 in London.
When it is 12:00 in Tenerife, it is 13:00 in Amsterdam or Madrid.
When it is 12:00 in Tenerife, it is 14:00 in Bucharest.
