Diving El Submarino

We descend toward the base of a volcanic wall, where scattered rock gives way to a broad sandy bottom at around 26 to 30 meters. Garden eels rise from the sand, while ledges and isolated formations provide shelter for smaller reef life.

Schools of roncadores and seabream may gather above the bottom, with barracuda patrolling farther into the blue. Different rays are regularly associated with this area and may pass close to the reef or settle on the sand.

What makes this dive truly different is the possibility of meeting Tenerife’s tourist submarine during its underwater route. Watching the large vessel emerge through the blue, sometimes with passengers looking back through its windows, creates an encounter unlike any other local dive. The submarine currently operates from Amarilla Marina and reaches approximately 30 meters.
