Diving Cita en el Mar

From the boat, the descent leads through open Atlantic blue toward a wreck field spread across the sand between 38 and 52 meters. Cita en el Mar is no longer intact. The bridge section, lying on its port side at around 45 meters, is the main recognizable structure, with machinery and other remains scattered farther across the bottom.

Built in Madeira in 1961, the 21.8-meter tuna trawler sank near Punta Rasca in May 1995 after encountering problems during a storm on its return from Morocco. It initially rested at around 25 meters, but another storm in January 1997 moved the wreck into deeper water.

Schools of roncadores and bream may gather around the remains, while amberjack and rays can appear in the surrounding blue. The depth, possible strong current, decompression, gas management and scattered structure make this a technical dive without shortcuts.
